Linda Barker Feature - September 2007
"The blinds in the conservatory have totally transformed the space. I spent six years looking for the right style because I'm fussy and didn't want bright ones made from man-made materials. In the end I went for pinoleum blinds from Appeal Blinds, painted in a linen shade that's perfect for the room. As a result we use this space a lot as a family, even in the height of summer, particularly for dining, so I have a large round table and chairs and two storage units in there."

"We had our conservatory put in about four years ago, which has so far been fabulous. The only drawback is that it becomes boiling in summer and freezing in winter, meaning a lot of expense on energy-guzzling fans and heaters. Is there a carbon neutral, money saving alternative?
Lovely as a conservatory may be, traditionally they've needed help, when it comes to carbon emissions. Luckily for us and the planet, the clever people at Appeal Blinds have come up with a solution, pioneering a blind that significantly reduces the need for fans and heaters. The Solar R Blinds and the Pleated version - the Alu-Pleat - are made from an aluminium backed fabric, allowing them to reflect 85% of heat in the summer, whilst insulating in the winter."
